Day 27: Mary Hidden in Advent-The Wise Men (Add for 27 days)

The Magi
Day 25:  The Wise Men
Add this day for a 27-day Advent season.

Read The Jesse Tree, pp. 85-88.  Hang ornament (star).
Wise men follow a miraculous star to find the true King.

     Scripture reference:  Matthew 2:1-12

Comment:  As the magi were guided by the star to find Christ, so God has given us, too, a miraculous guide.  If we will follow Our Lady, she will always lead us the Jesus.  Imitating her virtues will lead us to a life of holiness, imitating her silence will lead us to a life of prayer, imitating her constancy in suffering will lead us to the Cross of her Son, imitating her love of God will lead us finally home to the Father.  As a star guided the wise men, so our Lady guides us.

“As mariners are guided into port by the shining of a star, so Christians are guided to heaven by Mary"
-Saint Thomas Aquinas, Doctor of the Church

Ave Maris Stella

Hail bright star of ocean,
God's own Mother blest,
Ever sinless Virgin,
Gate of heavenly rest
Taking that sweet Ave
Which from Gabriel came,
Peace confirm within us,
Changing Eva's name.
Break the captives' fetters,
Light on blindness pour,
All our ills expelling,
Every bliss implore.
Show thyself a Mother;
May the Word Divine,
Born for us thy Infant,
Hear our prayers through thine
Virgin all excelling,
Mildest of the mild,
Freed from guilt, preserve us,
Pure and undefiled.
Keep our life all spotless,
Make our way secure,
Till we find in Jesus
Joy for evermore
Through the highest heaven
To the Almighty Three
Father, Son, and Sprit
One same glory be, Amen.
